Who is affected

Countries where IOEMA-1 comes ashore, how much of their submarine diversity this cable represents, and what our measurements into them show.

CountryDependence on this cableOther submarine cablesWhat the measurements show
Denmark
resilience index: 100 · resilient
1 of 33 cables (3% of submarine diversity) Aurora, Baltica, CANTAT-3 +29 more median 68 ms today vs 62 ms over 30 days (11 routes) - unchanged

1 of 11 cables (9% of submarine diversity) Atlantic Crossing-1 (AC-1), C-Lion1, Elektra-GlobalConnect 1 (GC1) +7 more median 54 ms today vs 55 ms over 30 days (163 routes) - unchanged
Netherlands
resilience index: 100 · resilient
1 of 12 cables (8% of submarine diversity) Amerigo Vespucci, Atlantic Crossing-1 (AC-1), Circe North +8 more median 47 ms today vs 65 ms over 30 days (89 routes) - faster
Norway
resilience index: 100 · resilient
1 of 19 cables (5% of submarine diversity) Arctic Way, Bodo-Rost Cable, Eviny Digital +15 more average 87 ms over the last day vs 77 ms over 30 days - unchanged
United Kingdom
resilience index: 97 · resilient
1 of 67 cables (1% of submarine diversity) 2Africa, Amitie, Apollo +63 more median 82 ms today vs 69 ms over 30 days (102 routes) - slower

Dependence is structural (share of the country's submarine cables), not a traffic share: real traffic distribution across cables is not public.

Path analysis

Traffic kept the same route. Latency rose without a visible path change, which points at congestion or a fault on the existing route rather than a reroute.

Cross-probe verdict. Only one probe saw it. We treat this as a probable false positive and label it as such.

Timeline

Detection method

Latency is sampled continuously from our probe network. An alert opens when round-trip time to a monitored endpoint holds above its rolling baseline, and closes automatically once it returns. Full method is described on the methodology page.
